I'm sorry, what?

I don't know if it was because I never watched the uncensored version of E.T., if I didn't know what the word meant when I watched it, or if I just forgot (highly unlikely, but possible...), but I am watching it now and think that Elliot came up with possibly one of the greatest insults a 10-year-old boy can give: "penisbreath." I wasn't sure I heard correctly, and so thanks to the wonderful world of DV-R, I rewound it and watched it again. Yep. Penisbreath.

What?

This was one of the most infamous lines in movie history -- at least for my generation. And that was because when someone my age first heard the word, it was usually when s/he was sitting right next (or close) to their mother or father in the theater. Half the audience was trying not to giggle (even though we really didn't know what the word was implying, but, hey, Elliot said "penis" and that's ALWAYS funny) while the other half of the audience tried to stifle (or didn't try) shocked gasps.

BTW ~ It’s a great insult for a 40-year-olds, too. : )
